We’re pleased to be launching our website as another way to help demystify the process of dealing with a law firm.
We hope you find the site a reflection of your dealings with us - helpful, knowledgeable and easily understood. We wanted a site that embraces the traditional with the cutting edge – a fitting reflection of our partners Roger Gowing and Gene Tomlinson who have driven the project.
We’ve always prided ourselves on our tradition of excellence and in today’s world that means being technologically current, so having made the decision to develop a suitably outstanding website, the task was passed to Practice Manager Kelly Wallace to make it happen.
Kelly spent a lot of time working out what was good and bad about the myriad law websites around . . . And then met with Law Creative, firing those ideas back and forth with Alan Hughes who designed our new logo, which informed our web design.
We had a memorable photo shoot with James Stanbridge, as creative behind the camera as he is behind his iMac; he managed to wrangle our team and snap images that really do capture the range of personalities within the Gowing and Co family.
Now we had a great design, fab images and James chomping at the bit to load some content; words, we needed words. Words that described what we do but definitely not in a stuffy, complicated ‘legalese’ style. Kelly drafted and redrafted to the point of frustration; sometimes you can just be too close to a subject. She called in Kay Boreham, who found that Kelly had really done a great job and provided a fine skeleton to flesh out.
Kay insisted on interviewing all of our staff for their profiles; some found this a bit unusual, and maybe daunting, but she hopes the process wasn’t too uncomfortable. Initially, Roger and Gene indicated they were too busy to take part, but as it turned out, curiosity got the better of them and they agreed to sit in the hot seat – however Gene was so comfortable there that Roger had to head to another appointment and missed out! Kay says talking to Gene was the most fascinating 40 minutes she’s had in a long time.
So, after a process akin to pregnancy, the site is here; we thank everyone involved in its development for their commitment and patience, and like all babies, this one will continue to grow. We’ll be adding sections to cover some frequently asked questions, providing information on issues within our specialty areas, and using our blog to comment on current hot topics. If you have ideas for content you’d like to see, please let us know.
While we’re now onboard with the digital age, nothing has really changed; we’ve just embraced another way of communicating with you. Because communication, courtesy, respect and understanding will always be our hallmark.
